Jesse Bricknell’s China Report No. 2
Our training schedule is:
We train from Monday to Friday, having games on Saturday and Sundays is a day off. We have to be at the hall at 8.45 am with a 10 minute warm-up then training starting at 9.00 am and finishing at 11.15 am with a 15 minute break in the middle. We only use a couple of 3 star balls for this training session, so we take our time when practicing so we don’t make easy mistakes, as it’s time consuming having to pick up balls all the time.
For the second session we have to be at the hall at 2.45 pm for a 10 minute warm-up then we start hitting at 3.00 pm. We have a 15 minute hit up before starting multi-ball which finishes at 5pm. We take it in turns feeding each other multi-ball while the coach walks around watching us train and giving advice. Once we’ve picked up the balls we start our physical which can vary from running 7.5 km, sprinting 400 m (5 times) to jumping and side skipping over barriers and stools. The physical is hard but not as exhausting as the training I did in Japan.
We normally finish at around 5.30 and then head off to dinner and on Tuesdays and Thursdays there is a 3rd session which goes for an hour and consists of service practice. I’ve been studying in-between the first and second session but the Chinese kids have to sleep and aren’t allowed to go out.
Regards,
Jesse Bricknell
