Purchasing Table Tennis Tables

So it is Christmas and you are thinking of buying a Table Tennis Table. So what do you look for?

There are a few features to look at:

Thickness

For quality of bounce you need to look at the thickness of the top. A good standard is 16mm or thicker. The 12 mm tops are OK but can lead to some inconsistency.

Portability

If you have the luxury of having the table up all the time you can get a table with heavier legs and one that is less portable. This should be a little cheaper as you don’t need to have the wheels and trolley attachments.

However, most of us will need something that you can put up and down easily. There are several good tables around now that are so easy to set up and put down. They can easily be done by one person. Ask the seller how they are folded up.

Storage Size

Look at the storage size. Some tables fold up very neatly with in two halves. These can be stored easily in a small space. The tables that come on a carriage tend to take up a little more storage space.

Playback

The other feature that many people ask about is the playback function. I think this is given way too much importance when selecting a table. If need be, you can even just put half of the table up against a wall to have the same effect.

Price

Of course price will be the limiting factor for most of us. Set your budget and then try to find the best table that covers the more important features.

Place more importance on the thickness of the top and the portability. The thickness will give you a good bounce and the portability will mean you are more likely to get it out and play on it.

Go to the PingSklls Store to see two portable tables that we recommend.
