Japan - A Different Culture
Posted by Jesse Bricknell on August 31st, 2008
Hey,
The last couple of days have been really hard. I have had to get up at 6.30 to be ready to go for a 4km run at 7.00 everyday and although I`m still training hard it has been physically demanding getting up so early as I`m used to being able to sleep in.
There is presently a Women`s Team training at the Academy as part of a training camp that will be finishing next Wednesday. They are aged between 18-22 years old and have been playing matches with us. I have been told by the coach that there should be a day off on Thursday after they leave which will be a good break.
I am finding the Japanese culture really different. They are so polite here and everyone greets everyone with a small bow and Hello, doesn’t matter who you are, everyone is polite to each other. Also when I go to the kids room in between sessions to talk and have a bit of fun I found out that they eat seaweed raw and enjoy it! I hate seaweed and can’t bear the thought of eating it mixed with other food, let alone raw!
Although the food here is really good I’m getting a bit sick of it and wish I could have some Australian food. It wasn’t so hard in China because there was a McDonald’s near by I could occasionally go to and a big shopping center that had some more Western Food that I could have.
