This is the 3rd in the series of Blogs from Jesse Bricknell, who is currently training in Japan. If you would like to ask Jesse any questions about his training in Japan, just send them through to the ‘Ask the Coach’ section.
Hey,
I’ve realised that the training at Taka’s centre wasn’t that hard as I’m now training at the National Training Centre which only the best of Japan go to. The training is very serious.
I arrived Saturday and didn’t mess around, starting training at 2.30 and finishing at 6.30. The training was physically hard and I was so tired by the end of the day. I couldn’t wait to get to sleep. Although the training is really hard I’m really enjoying it here, the food is really good and there is lots of it. There is a pool, weights room, bath house which has a hot pool (42 degrees) cold pool (18.4 degrees) and a sauna. I have visited the bath house several times since coming here as it really relaxes you afterwards. I am going to be training at the National Training Centre for another 4 weeks, with one weekend going to a training camp at the southern end of Japan which I’ve been told is very hot!
I have only trained for one session but already the coaches have started to tell me things I should try to correct and have started to work on building my leg strength. I am going to try and focus on my balance and the steadiness of my legs for the best part of the 4 weeks.
