Fitness Campaign Underway
Posted by Jeff Plumb on August 21st, 2008
My fitness campaign is underway. On Monday I donated blood. Not only is that good because it saves lives but I get a mini-health checkup. They test my iron and hemoglobin levels, my blood pressure and they check my weight. So now I know I weigh 93kg. It will be interesting to see after 3 months if I have lost any or not. Again I’d like to stress that my main concern is more how I feel rather than focusing on weight.
On Tuesday night I played indoor soccer which is great for your fitness. You basically sprint up and down the Gym for nearly an hour. There were a few hiccups though. Firstly one of the players (who is also a workmate of mine) accidentally kicked me in the face! I had a small cut on my lip but it was only minor so I played on. Then I turned my ankle slightly.
Wednesday I brought my running gear into work and at lunch time I set off around the TAN. I hadn’t run it for ages so I decided to take it very slowly and ensure that with my sore ankle I would still finish. I run around in 21 and half minutes. I felt good to have started my fitness campaign and will be able to gradually increase my speed.
So tonight I once again have prepared my running gear and will attempt my second run around the TAN tomorrow. Wish me luck!

Jeff,
Warrnambool has a lovely promenade (concrete) for you to run along - or as an alternative perhaps around the grass at lake Pertobe - probably 2 laps.
Afterwards there is always “Time and Tide” coffee shop on the outskirts of Port Fairy (overlooking the sea) for a lovely meringue stack or chocolate brownie cake to help replenish those lost kilojoules.
Good luck with the campaign - I know the commitment it takes (unfortunately over and over again!)
